Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has not announced a 2028 presidential run, but his recent media appearances, visits to early primary states and comments about “considering” a bid have fueled speculation.

Analysis by The Enquirer shows he has attracted thousands of Republican crossover voters, with some describing him as a centrist or “Republican light,” and experts noting that his moderate profile could appeal to disaffected voters.

While Beshear’s political legacy, bipartisan appeal, and early polling presence have sparked interest, analysts caution it is still too early to predict the 2028 field.

“There are just so many things that have happened in the last six months in this presidential administration that to think that we know what the issues will be in 2028 and who the players will be—I think it's just asking too much,” says Shana Gadarian, professor of political science and Merle Goldberg Fabian Professor of Excellence in Citizenship and Critical Thinking.
