A new YouGov/The Economist poll shows Trump's approval rating among millennials (ages 30–44) has dropped to 28 percent—a second-term low—compared to 62 percent disapproval, while his overall approval stands at 37 percent. Experts note that the decline reflects an accumulation of policies and actions over time, with the war in Iran and rising gas prices cited as contributing factors.
“The overall erosion in the president’s approval ratings is still the consequence of the accumulation of many policies, orders, actions and statements during his term. There is no one reason or single inflection point. Certainly, the war in Iran and the quick, steep rise in gasoline prices have only added to the longer term trend,” Grant Reeher, professor of political science, tells Newsweek.
In another Newsweek article, “Projection Shows Trump Net Approval Above Water in Just 6 States,” Reeher says, “I see this as another way to say that his approval rating overall is low and has been dropping. I don’t see anything particularly revealing here. Remember, the 2024 election was pretty close, if you look beyond the Electoral College.”
