The Associated Press reports that Republicans are highlighting the year in his 20s that Gov. Tim Walz spent teaching in China and other visits, including his honeymoon, as evidence of the Democratic vice presidential nominee’s decades-long relationship with "Communist China."
According to the AP, Walz’s record also includes serving on a congressional committee tracking human rights in China, spending time with the Dalai Lama, and posing for photos with a pro-democracy activist from Hong Kong.
In the article, Dimitar Gueorguiev, associate professor of political science, says Walz's knowledge of China could actually lend credibility to U.S. criticism of the ruling Communist Party.
