O’Keefe, a Maxwell School alumnus and Syracuse University Professor, was at the helm 20 years ago when Columbia broke apart while returning from a space research mission. 

The legendary athlete will reflect on his past experiences, current challenges and work to uplift Black youth.

Eleven Maxwell School students have been awarded grants from the Syracuse Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Engagement (SOURCE) and the Renée Crown University Honors Program. The awards provide up to $7,500 in support for original undergraduate research projects.

The esteemed Syracuse University alumnus, professor, trustee and benefactor passed away on Dec. 2, 2022, at the age of 78.

Zhang, assistant professor of political science, has received up to $200K to research the role of citizens in the governance of artificial intelligence systems. 

Molly Corbett Broad ’62 B.A. (Econ), H’09, a Syracuse University alumna who became a nationally renowned higher education leader and advocate, died Jan. 2. She was 81. Broad was a longtime member of the Maxwell Advisory Board.

Founded in 1953, the Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree at an institution in the United Kingdom in any field of study. Sardino was one of 40 students selected from around the country and is Syracuse University’s fifth Marshall Scholar.
