Invited to the White House to present at the “Roundtable on Emerging Technologies for Preventing Health Emergencies,” David Larsen, professor and chair of public health, had two minutes to discuss the importance of testing wastewater for infectious diseases.

Maxwell's Policy, Place, and Population Health (P3H) Lab investigates the connection between state policies, local conditions, and health and mortality in the United States.

The team hopes to develop tools for effective and data-driven decision making and to assess collaborative governance in public bus fleet electrification. 

In an interview for the Drug Enforcement Administration’s “Prevention Profiles” podcast series, Dessa Bergen-Cico, professor of public health, discusses her more than 25 years of experience at Syracuse University addressing substance use prevention on campus and beyond.

Several Maxwell School faculty have been promoted to leadership roles, including Junko Takeda, who has been named chair of the Citizenship and Civic Engagement (CCE) Undergraduate Program after serving in an interim role since July 2023, and Leonard M. Lopoo, who began as chair of the Public Administration and International Affairs Department in July 2024. 

The associate professor will join her research counterparts to advance their study of invisible labor and the mental and economic toll of tasks disproportionately carried out by women.

The group is, among other things, studying how two programs offered by the Department of Energy stimulate innovation and engage with small businesses.

In partnership with Syracuse University’s West Coast office, the Maxwell School hosted two events in California over the summer that celebrated the centennial with an examination of a timely topic: the intersection of artificial intelligence with entertainment and technology.

Edwin Ackerman, Marc Garcia, Timur Hammond and Alex Rothenberg have been promoted to associate professor.

Rower Kamile Kralikaite ’24 B.A. (IR), a 2024 All-American, three-time All-ACC First Team selection and two-time All-ACC Academic Team honoree, will represent Lithuania in the Summer Olympics.
