"Design Flaws: Consequences of the Coverage Gap in Food Programs for Children at Kindergarten Entry," co-authored by Colleen Heflin, professor of public administration and international affairs, was published in Applied Economic Perspectives and Policy. The authors examine the effects of the duration of the coverage gap between the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) on kindergarteners’ skills. Their results show evidence of negative effects on reading, though not on math. 06/06/18
